Call for Nominations: DH Awards 2020!

It goes without saying that 2020 was a difficult year both personally and academically for many people, but we have also seen some extraordinary work from our colleagues over the last twelve months. What are some of the DH-related resources that really made you sit back and say “wow”? Was there something that transformed your approach to your work? How about a blog post that captured the moment or that provided a good explanation of how to get started with a tool or a new digital environment? Was there a dataset or a platform that rapidly changed our understanding of Covid-19? Or, perhaps, was there a project you viewed that rose to the occasion of documenting the need for social justice?

The DH Awards have been in place since 2012, and are a community-driven effort to recognize outstanding achievement in the field. The categories for the awards are:

  • Best Use of DH for Fun
  • Best DH Data Visualization
  • Best Exploration of DH Failure/Limitations
  • Best DH Blog Post or Series of Posts
  • Best Use of DH for Public Engagement
  • Best DH tool or Suite of Tools
  • Best DH Dataset
  • (And a special category for 2020) Best DH Response to Covid-19

To nominate your own or another person’s project, blog, tool, etc and to see previous winners, check out this link. Nominations are open until 31 January 2021. Good luck!
