Event: Linking People: Network Analysis and Intellectual History

This hybrid round-table and workshop is co-organized between LECTIO, KU Leuven, and the University of Utrecht. Event dates: 11-12 May. Registration deadline: 30 April 2021.

Over two days, participants will have the chance to try a hands-on approach to network analysis, with a mix of practical workshops and presentations of ongoing projects (by LECTIO members). The keynote speakers will be prof. Dirk Van Miert (University of Utrecht), presenting the ERC project “Sharing Knowledge in Learned and Literary Networks – The Republic of Letters as a Pan- European Knowledge Society” and Prof. Bart Thijs (KU Leuven) on “Recognizing Patterns: the application of Deep Learning in Network Analysis”. Job Opening: Tenure Track Academic Position in Digital Humanities at KU Leuven (80% FTE)

Until (and including) Monday 22 February 2021, the Faculty of Arts is accepting applications for a tenure-track position in Digital Humanities at KU Leuven. This position will have an 80% Full Time Employment (FTE). The focus of the position is on “computational methodologies, data analysis and data visualisation in the field of cultural-historical studies.” Likewise, it is expected that the chosen applicant will have extensive proficiency with “programming languages, data structures and visualisation techniques applied to the humanities. In particular, acquaintance with some of the following or similar methods is an added value: 

  • data visualization
  • linked data
  • network analysis
  • distant reading, stylometry, digital text analysis
  • topic modelling
  • human computer interaction”
